Our cakes and patisserie are handmade by our pastry chef, Paula Murchison. She trained under the Roux brothers and was Head of Pastry at Sharrow Bay for many years. Her creations are a delight to the eyes as well as the taste buds.
Our full afternoon tea for two is traditional but with a modern twist. You will enjoy sandwiches, a sausage roll, scones with homemade jam and clotted cream and a selection of patisserie and handmade biscuits. Enjoy with loose-leaf tea or americano, or treat yourself to a Strawberry Bellini or glass of Prosecco.
We even have a Wild Strawberry Picnic Tea for children – strawberry-shaped sandwiches, a cupcake, iced biscuit and milkshake served in a little picnic basket. We recommend that you book your afternoon tea in advance, especially if you have any dietary requirements.
If you haven’t time to indulge in a full afternoon tea, why not treat yourself to a cake or cream tea from the selection in our patisserie counter? We have fruit or date and walnut scones, homemade teacakes and an array of cakes and patisserie from strawberry tarts and passion fruit eclairs to pistachio or chocolate and almond cake. Vegan and wheat-free cakes are usually available.
Fancy something something more savoury? We serve deli-style hot and cold sandwiches, salads, savoury pastries and a selection of savoury and sweet crêpes, all made with fresh and locally-sourced ingredients. We have a selection of light breakfast options including bacon or sausage butties, crêpes and sweet or savoury croissants.
Tasting is believing when it comes to our ice cream made in Ulverston, Cumbria by the Handmade Ice Cream Company using thick double cream, whole free-range milk and not an additive or artificial flavouring in sight. The vanilla is flavoured with Madagascan vanilla pods and the gingerbread is made with real pieces of gingerbread. We also stock vegan choices.
Great in a cone, but even greater alongside one of our sweet crêpes. Or why not try one of our ice cream milk shakes?
